love the way you lie

I really like Eminem's music. He is an incredible rapper but I do recognize that his lyrics, points of view and just him in general are very questionable.

That being said, his new album is his best (although his first was pretty amazing too). I'm loving the song "Love the Way you Lie" (ft. Rihanna) which is popular on the radio. Also check out "No Love" (ft. Lil Wayne), "Won't Back Down" (ft. Pink), and "On Fire".

The video for Love the Way you Lie was recently released and its really intense, violent and raw - just like the song. It features Megan Fox (who seems too pretty for the role) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie from Lost) which are kinda random characters.

Maybe Eminem has changed his ways since he sobered up? Also I'm weird and obsessed with SYTYCD and definitely think a choreographed routine to this song would be amazing (Nappytabs style).

Quiet Little Voices

Another music recommendation from the husband. I am loving the Scottish indie rock band We Were Promised Jetpacks and find myself rocking out to "Quiet Little Voices" in the car a lot. Maybe even doing an embarrassing dance with it.

Another awesome song is Keeping Warm. No official video for it but I think its so beautiful. Go to 3:20 if you don't want to hear all the instrumental. Its kinda a crappy video of it so it doesn't do the song justice.

Enjoy! And if you have a thing for accents like I do then you will love this band even more.

Mumford and Sons

I know this has been a lot of music posts in a row but I recently discovered the band Mumford and Sons and love their stuff! Credit, as per usual, goes to my husband who always finds the best music. They are British and have a folk/rock sound with sweet lyrics and a passionate vibe to their music.

In other news, I'm coming up on my 100th post and I'm thinking about doing a give away of sorts. I know 100 measly posts, but I still feel its a milestone. Any suggestions for something you'd like to win in a giveaway thats in the $20-30 range?

My heart keeps beating like a hammer...

I just heard the song "Help I'm Alive" on the radio the other day and cannot stop listening to it. Apparently I'm slow to jump on the Metric bandwagon because my husband has loved them for a long time (they are a Canadian Indie band so its not a surprise).

Happy weekend!

She & Him

I am loving the album Volume 2 by She & Him (Zoey Deschanel and M. Ward).

This pretty much describes their music:
She & Him make music for an eternal springtime, when the temperature is warm enough to go riding with the top (or at least the windows) rolled down and the radio turned up. They occupy an alternate universe where the saddest of songs feel as warm as sun showers; the rain may be coming down, but somewhere nearby, everything looks bright.
The song Thieves is lovely and I think my favorite track on the album.
On Jimmy Kimmel just so you can see how cute she is.

I think she has the most beautiful voice.

Do you have any music finds for me?

I feel you in my heart and I don't even know you...

I'm loving the song Nineteen from Canadian band Tegan and Sara

Hope you enjoy and thanks, as per usual, goes to my husband for introducing me to the band.

Music Find: Joanna Newsom

Idiscovered Joanna Newsom on NPR music and I really love her music so far. I've only listened to a few songs but I'm hooked. Her lyrics are smart, witty and beautifully written with intricate and well thought instrumentation. Her voice is ethereal, folksy and really captivating. She's a harpist, pianist and singer/songwriter from California and definitely worth a listen.

I tried the song Baby Bird first following NPR's recommendation...

But I really love this one too...

If you are interested, you can listen to the full album by going to the NPR article or below:

The nicest thing

This song is really speaking to me today. I love Kate Nash...

The Nicest Thing
All I know is that you're so nice
You're the nicest thing I've seen
I wish that we could give it a go
See if we could be something

I wish I was your favourite girl
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world
I wish my smile was your favourite kind of smile
I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style

I wish you couldn't figure me out
But you always wanna know what I was about
I wish you'd hold my hand
When I was upset
I wish you'd never forget
The look on my face when we first met

I wish you had a favourite beauty spot
That you loved secretly
'Cause it was on a hidden bit
That nobody else could see
Basically, I wish that you loved me
I wish that you needed me
I wish that you knew when I said two sugars,
Actually I meant three

I wish that without me your heart would break
I wish that without me you'd be spending the rest of your nights awake
I wish that without me you couldn't eat
I wish I was the last thing on your mind before you went to sleep

Look, all I know is that you're the nicest thing I've ever seen
And I wish that we could see if we could be something
Yeah I wish that we could see if we could be something

For Emma, Forever Ago

I am not really all that clued in to the music scene but my husband finds the most amazing bands. I credit him for 95% of all my new music and his best find so far has been Bon Iver. This band is just so ridiculous and inspired. The video below doesn't even do them justice.

We went to their concert last year in Cape Cod and it was by far the best concert I have ever been to. Ever. I'm not kidding. You can just feel how much this band absolutely loves music and how connected they are to music and sound. If they are playing near you and not already sold out - GO (they are only playing in Cincinnati so far in 2010)! i promise, you will have zero regrets.

Warm Whispers

loving this song...

Click here to listen to a non live version of it (yes its from sisterhood of the traveling pants lol but its awesome!)

Your warm whispers
Out of the dark they carry my heart
Your warm whispers
Into the dawn they carry me through
And I'm weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me

Your warm whispers
Letting me drown in a pool of you
Your warm whispers
Keeping the noise from breaking through
And I'm weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me
Yeah I'm weeping warm honey and milk that you
Stay surround me, surrounding me
Honey stay surrounding me
