I was driving to the airport today and rocking out to my radio when I could hear the start of The Cure's Lovesong. Right before the song was about to play, the radio DJ said that once in an interview they asked Robert Smith the question "if you could relive any moment in time, which one would it be?". His answer was "My first dance with Mary." God that just melted my heart. He's been married to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Poole, for over twenty years now.* And Lovesong was written for/about her...

Kitty KleynWhenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you
*Before you think I'm all crazy and obsessed, I didn't know any of that background information (wife's name, etc) but wikipedia did. I super suck at remembering who sang anything most of the time...

whenever i'm alone with you
so sweet :) and a perfect sendoff for you and hubby to Paris!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet! I like that song even more now! And I love when people still talk so happily about their significant others. I just had this man in his 60's walk into my work the other day and he referenced his beautiful bride waiting for him in the car. My sentimental heart melts every time! :)
